XBag Finished...Gave Me Fits!!

I've been dying to make an x-bag for awhile. I saw an ad/picture in the back of a magazine. Searched for the pattern--which I finally found in Pittsburg, Kansas at a small quilt shop.

I liked the pattern so much, that I changed it! lol I used a double-sided pre-quilted fabric. Which caused some problems when following the pattern directions, but I changed them slightly.

I had the hardest time sewing up the sides because one of the seams is buried and kept getting left out of the seam. It took a lot of ripping to finish the bag right.

Also, the raw edges--with a regular zig zag stitch--are visible inside the bag. I think I would make adjustments to this, making sure that they were covered in some way. The bottom and side bottom seams would still be raw, but could be covered with plastic canvas in fabric. This would also give the bag some stability--which isn't really needed with the pre-quilted fabric.

I think this would be a great purse to have in all kinds of novelty fabrics. Halloween. Christmas. Well, you get the idea.

It's nice and roomy. Now I'm designing a wallet to go with it...

Summer Reading Part 2

Someone asked how Velocity turned out. It was a good read. Had a pleasant ending.

Do you ever read the ending of a book before you get there? This was one of those that I did because I wasn't going to spend time reading a book that would end up disappointing me. I wasn't disappointed.

I recently read In Silence by Erica Spindler. This book absolutely positively creeped me out! When I put it down at night, I had an itchy, twitchy feeling that stayed with me for a long time. This is a definite must-read if you like suspense. This one surprised me at the end. I certainly didn't guess who The Seven were...

Another must-read is Broken Prey by John Sanford. I forgot how good these books are! I'm in the process of re-reading the series.

Currently, I am reading In the Night Room by Peter Straub. I loved the author's previous lost boy, lost girl, and decided to dive into this sequel. It's slow-going so far. I just read the review on Amazon.com and learned more about the book than I probably wanted. Now I'll have to finish it!

So what are you reading?!

Blue Jeans Purse is Finished

I finished it. Whew! I added beaded fringe and a flower brooch--both which I got at Joann's. The brooch was white and I painted it with jaquard paints. Added a little Fabrico marker to the edges.

Let me know what you think. I'd like to sell these. Not sure what to charge, though.
